São Bento has been venerated since 1615 in São Bento da Porta Aberta (Rio Caldo - Geres)
The trail that we propose for this day is part of the path that pilgrims to S. Bento da Porta Aberta have been traveling for over 300 years!
Starting at the parish council of Bouro (Sta. Marta) and ending at the Sanctuary of S. Bento da Porta Aberta.
This beautiful route, with an approximate distance of 14 km and medium degree of difficulty, will make the hiker walk through ancient paths of rare beauty, visit the Church of Nossa Senhora da Abadia as well as the pilgrim's museum. We will have a lunch break in the refreshing picnic area of the Abbey and, in the afternoon, we will travel the last 7 km towards S. Bento da Porta Aberta.
Come and enjoy the best that nature has to offer us, at a time of year, cooler and quieter where you can delight in the beautiful landscapes of Gerês, the unique colors of early autumn on a great day to relax!
Aware that we are going to cross beautiful natural areas that “suffer” from the garbage that many of its visitors leave along the various trails, we propose that they join us in the effort to preserve the best that nature has!
PLOGGING (a term that combines JOGGING (running in English) and PLOCKA UPP (catching in Swedish) is a growing movement around the world that aims to collect garbage along hikes thus creating a more ecological awareness with a view to nature preservation!
This PLOGGING activity is completely voluntary so only those who want to participate!

** Lunch will be held "pic nic", in the picnic area of Senhora da Abadia
* Use of mandatory face mask during the transfer trip. It is necessary to maintain the safety distance during the Trail and comply with the defined recommendations.
